As part of the BBC's Open Road tour we held a lecture and screening event at the University, which was organised in conjunction with BBC Radio Cleveland.
BBC Radio Newcastle, 17 January 2006
As part of the BBC's 'Open Road' tour we held a lecture and screening event at the BBC's Newcastle studios, which was attended by an audience of 27.
Whickham Public Library, Tyne and Wear, 7 November 2005
This public screening was attended by 37 members of the public and was held as part of the BBC's 'People's War' project. A 90-minute selection of material related to World War II and the post-war reconstruction period was shown.
Allendale Village Hall, 7 June 2005
At the invitation of the Allendale Film Society, we screened a selection of films and excerpts relating to life and work in rural Northumberland.
Association of Moving Image Archivists, Annual Conference, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, 15 November 2004
The NRFTA screened edited clips from a 1937 home movie, taken by a holidaymaker from Middlesbrough, showing everyday life in Nazi Germany, as part of the conference's closing night screening. This event was attended by 450 film archivists from all over the world.
Maltings Arts Centre, Berwick Upon Tweed, 8 October 2004
At this public screening the recently rediscovered feature documentary, The Blackhill Campaign, was shown for the first time in over 40 years. The director was in attendance and took part in a Q & A after the screening.
University of Sunderland, 7 September 2004
As part of a conference organised by the North-East England History Institute, we presented a selection of items from the collection which explored the changing face of regional identity, with a particular focus on Sunderland.

The first public screening of footage from the ICI collection, which was deposited with us last year, was attended by a capacity audience of 236. After further editing and research, this programme was released on DVD as Chemicals and Community.

NEED (Tyneside Cinema), 29 May 2003
The NRFTA gave a presentation to the Northern Distribution, Exhibition and Education group of independent cinema operators in the region on access provision and film shows, which included some excerpts of material from the collection.
South Tyneside Public Library, 21 May 2003
The NRFTA's new 2003 showreel received its first public screening at this show, attended by an audience of 129. Highlights include recently discovered footage of street scenes in Houghton-le-Spring in 1927 and clips from industrial films of the 1970s and 80s.
University of Teesside, 26 March 2003
The NRFTA provided a film show for local senior citizens consisting of excerpts of films from the collection in conjunction with Middlesbrough Conncil, organised as part of Age Awareness Week.

We presented a special assembly for sixth form students on the work of film archives, including some clips from the collection, and answered questions from students interested in careers in the film and media industries.
Langley Park Primary School, County Durham, 26 September 2002
As part of a local history event organised by the school, we presented a 30-minute showreel of films related to life and culture in County Durham.
Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle, 15 September 2002
As part of the cinema's heritage day celebrations, we screened a selection of material illustrating the history of Newcastle and the Tyneside area. The programme also included excerpts from a 1959 documentary about the work of the Tyneside Film Society, including shots taken in the cinema during the 1930s and 40s.
Living Pictures conference, University of Sheffield, 12-14 July 2002
The NRFTA provided extensive technical support to this conference, including the preparation and digitising of several Bamforth films provided by the BFI, which enabled them to be screened in an original Bamforth cinema at Holmfirth.
Maltings Arts Centre, Berwick Upon Tweed, 22 May 2002
In conjunction with the Maltings and Berwick Record Office, we presented a two-hour selection of highlights from our collection and some films from the Berwick Record Office which have been preserved and digitised by the NRFTA. It showed to an audience of over 300.
Tyne and Wear Archives Service, 9 May 2002
As part of the Local History Week events organised by TWAS, we presented a one-hour showreel of highlights from the collection to an audience of 40.
British Silent Film Conference, Broadway Arts Centre, Nottingham, 8 April 2002
We showed two items to delegates at the conference: T.H. Brown's Redcar for Holidays and a 1929 local topical shot in Berwick-Upon-Tweed. The films were accompanied by the internationally known silent film pianist Neil Brand.
Benwell Lunch Club, Newcastle, 16 January 2002
We presented a selection of material from the collection, related to Newcastle and Tyneside, and the pensioners' lunch club in Benwell.

The NRFTA provided an illustrated lecture for media studies students on the work of a moving image archive, covering acquisition, preservation, cataloguing, access and other related issues.
